Frequently asked questions

How does the ranked choice voting calculator work?

Everyone ranks the options by dragging them into order. The calculator tallies first-choice votes, and if no option has a majority it eliminates the last-place option and transfers those ballots to each voter's next choice. Rounds repeat until one option has a majority — that's instant-runoff voting, computed automatically.

Is this ranked choice calculator really free?

Yes. You can create a poll, collect ranked ballots, and see the calculated results without paying or signing up. A Pro plan is optional for permanent polls and extras, but the calculator itself is free.

Do I need a spreadsheet or Google Forms to calculate ranked choice results?

No. Spreadsheets and form tools collect rankings but leave you to run the elimination rounds yourself. TeamSort collects the ranked ballots and computes the instant-runoff result in one place, updating live as votes come in.

What voting methods can it calculate?

TeamSort supports three methods: instant-runoff voting (classic ranked choice elimination rounds), Borda count (points by position), and Condorcet (head-to-head matchups). Pick the method when you create the poll and the calculator does the rest.
